FY 2019 Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants

FEMA Announces 2019 FMA and PDM Grants

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is announcing $410 million in funding is available through two Fiscal Year 2019 Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grant programs: Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA). These competitive grant programs assist state, tribal and territorial governments to reduce disaster losses and protect life and property from future disaster damages.

Potential applicants can review the specifics of the FY19 FMA and PDM programs in the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) which includes details such as eligibility, funding guidelines and evaluation criteria. The NOFO for FMA and PDM is available online at www.grants.gov and additional information is available at FEMA.gov.

Further information on these grant programs is available at http://www.fema.gov/hazard-mitigation-assistance and ready.nj.gov/mitigation.

We would like to remind you that complete applications for 2019 FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) and Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) grants are due to NJOEM (through eGrants) by COB November 29, 2019. NJOEM Mitigation Unit staff must review, revise and coordinate with other State agencies before submitting final complete application packages through the Attorney General's office prior to the January 31, 2020 FEMA deadline. We encourage all applicants to submit applications through eGrants as early as possible due to the short time frame and turnaround of applications.

We're here to help! If you have any questions, please contact the NJOEM Mitigation Unit at (609) 963-6900 X 6208 or NJMitigation@gw.njsp.org.

***Applications for Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) and Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) are due to NJOEM through the eGrants system on the FEMA Grants Portal accessible at https://portal.fema.gov by COB Friday, November 29, 2019.***
