  7. Where are training courses held?

    Answer:

  8. Will I get a certificate for the course?

    Answer:

Every student who completes a course will receive a certificate of completion from the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management. Each student will need to maintain their own training records as NJOEM does not provide transcripts of past training.

  9. How can I request a particular FEMA course be delivered in my town, county or for my agency?

    Answer:

YES. It is understood that personal and professional commitments often prohibit attendance at a training site that necessitates long commutes and consecutive full days of instruction. Alternative field offerings permit those members of the emergency management community to receive the training they believe to be beneficial to themselves and their programs. However, these needs must be balanced by the availability of instructors, the number of courses on the yearly schedule, availability of an appropriate training site, and the potential for a class size of a least 16 students.

We encourage those who desire emergency management training, unique or specialized training, business and industry training, or public officials conferences for members of their community and neighboring jurisdictions to contact the:

Or, by contacting any of the instructors in the Training & Exercise Unit. Any course delivered by the NJOEM Field Training Unit at any location must be open to emergency response, management personnel and allied agencies statewide.

  10. What do I do if I cannot attend a course?

    Answer:

If you have applied but have not received confirmation, please contact the Training & Exercise Staff so your application can be removed to make space for additional training applicants. If you have been confirmed to attend a course, please contact Ted Cashel at 609-882-2000 extension 6214 as promptly as possible so that your seat may be offered to someone on the waiting list. Failure to make timely notification for course withdrawals/absences may jeopardize your enrollment in future courses.

  11. Are continuing education credits/units (CECs/CEUs) offered for training courses?

    Answer:

Participants who successfully complete a course will receive a certificate. Each student should retain their certificate and relevant course materials to make their own applications for credits from accrediting agencies. Most accrediting bodies will require proof of attendance and course content. NJOEM does not provide transcripts so please keep your own complete records.

NJSP FTU will as appropriate request CECs from NJ OEMS and Div. of Fire Safety.
